Creators of Film “Man of God” in Pre-Production on “Moses the Black”
LOS ANGELES, Sept 16, 2024 – On the heels of the success of “Man of God,” writer-director-producer Yelena Popovic and producer Alexandros Potter recently launched Simeon Faith, a fund that will finance and produce talent-driven, highly marketable films with strong elements of faith for a global audience. Simeon Faith is backed by a network of cinephiles and investors that recognize the importance of investing in impactful content in a media-dominated world.
The fund aims to develop, finance and produce one to two films per year over the next four years, with a focus on hard-hitting, relevant and meaningful stories that will bring the lives of the saints to the big screen. The first film on the slate currently in pre-production is “Moses the Black,” a story of a gangster in modern-day Chicago inspired by an incredible story of repentance of the fourth century saint of the same name. “‘Moses the Black’ will give hope and courage to people to abandon life of sin firmly believing that God forgives those who truly repent and welcomes them to eternal life. No life is lost or meaningless in the eyes of God,” said writer/director Yelena Popovic, who wrote and will direct “Moses the Black.”
Popovic will also serve as co-CEO for Simeon Faith handling the fund’s day-to-day content development strategy, including development and creative oversight. Potter will serve as co-CEO, and will be responsible for the fund’s day-to-day operations and strategy, including financing and production.
Popovic and Potter are best known for their collaborative effort on “Man of God,” the English-speaking international hit on the life of Greek saint St. Nektarios of Aegina, with a cast of acclaimed actors, including Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke. “Man of God” broke box office records in Greece in 2021, followed by a hugely successful U.S. Fathom Events release in 2022. The film has gone on to become a reference film in the Christian world, and is available to watch on major VOD platforms in the U.S & Canada, including Amazon Prime and Apple TV. “Man of God” will also be available for streaming on Netflix Greece starting December 1st 2024.
