Jerusalem Patriarchate – Visits to His Beatitude
On Monday, October 29/November 11, 2024, H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos received Mr Diczházi Gábor, the representative of Hungary in Ramallah.

His Beatitude referred to His visits to Hungary and the honours He received from its Government officials.
His Beatitude also referred to the Patriarchate’s multifaceted pastoral and peace-making work in the midst of the ongoing war and praised Hungary’s financial contribution to the renovation of the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem and the restoration of the Edicule of the Holy Sepulchre in 2017.
On Tuesday, October 30/November 12, 2024, His Beatitude received Mr Dov Moskovič, who is responsible for the full structural project required to promote the archaeological site of the “Seat”. This archaeological site is the excavated ruins of the Coenobitic Monastery of the “Seat”, next to the Holy Monastery of the Prophet Elijah.

This Monastery is attested by Cyril of Scythopolis and other sources as a Monastery of the pious pilgrim Ikelia, with an octagonal Church, to which Saint Theodosios the Coenobiarch initially secluded himself. The founding of this Monastery is based on the tradition that the Virgin Mary sat here with Joseph, the betrothed, on her way to Bethlehem, to be recorded following the decree of Caesar Octavian Augustus: “At that time a decree came out of Caesar Augustus” (Luke 2,1).
His Beatitude praised Mr Dov Moskovič for his excellent work and wished for this project’s success, which will attract the visits of many pilgrims.
