Your Grace and Reverend Fathers,
Archdiocese Cathedral Philoptochos President Madelene Lambiris and the Entire Cathedral Philoptochos Board and Sisterhood,
Dear Friends, Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Χριστὸς Ἀνέστη! Christ is Risen! Χριστὸς Ἀνέστη!
I’m delighted to be with you, the beloved Sisters of the Archdiocese Cathedral Philoptochos, once again for a fellowship meal and event. These occasions of camaraderie and conversation strengthen the bonds of agape and synergy that make participation in them truly worthwhile.
Our Holy Trinity Cathedral Philoptochos Society is a marvelous example of dedication and innovation, for you never fail to come to support the efforts of the Cathedral, and at that same time you are always looking for new ways to enhance the life of the community. For these qualities and activities, we are all very grateful. The support that we give to our Philoptochos gives back to us tenfold, as Philoptochos always finds a way to magnify their philanthropy.
Today’s Spring Luncheon is an opportunity to reconnect with one another, and to continue the conversations about what we are doing to further the goals of Philoptochos in particular, and the goals of our Church in general.
The word, “goal,” contains much more than a concept of achievement in its most fundamental meaning. In Greek, τέλος, has the sense of purpose as well as accomplishment. And there should always be a process by which we examine and re-examine what we see as our purposes, in whatever service we offer to God and His Holy Church. This is because any of us can get trapped in a cycle of merely doing what has always been done before.
The clergy know this very well, because the liturgical cycle of the Church keeps us in a particular rhythm throughout the year. But the mere repetition of the Festal Cycles does mean that we do not think carefully about their meaning and application, every time we have the responsibility and the joy to engage with them.
Likewise with Philoptochos – you have many programs and events that repeat from year to year, but as we think about their purpose, we can engage them with intentionality and make them meaningful.
Therefore, on this wonderful day when we are celebrating all things Spring, let us be mindful of our ministry as Philoptochos, and the good that we are doing in the world.
I want to thank all those who have made this Luncheon a success. Their hard work pays tremendous dividends for everyone.
May the Lord always bless you and your families, and all the Members of Philoptochos nationwide, health, prosperity, and every spiritual blessing that leads to the Kingdom of God.
My gratitude and my best wishes are with you all.
Thank you!
Χριστὸς Ἀνέστη!
