U.S. Consul General Michael Kidwell visits Ecumenical Patriarchate
On Monday, 4 August 2025, the newly appointed head of the U.S. Consulate General in Constantinople, Michael Kidwell, paid an official visit to the Seat of the Ecumenical Patriarchate at the Phanar.
Kidwell was warmly received by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, with whom he discussed matters concerning the life and mission of the Mother Church of Constantinople, the local Greek Orthodox community, as well as the upcoming Patriarchal visit to the United States, scheduled for next month.
The meeting was also attended by Ms. Amanda Suarez, an official from the U.S. Consulate General, and Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office.
Prior to the meeting, Mr. Kidwell visited the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George, where he was given a guided tour by the Grand Archimandrite Iakovos.
