Feast Day of St. Euphemia, the Great Martyr

The Church today honors the memory of Euphemia, the Great Martyr.

St. Euphemia hailed from the city of Chalcedon, in northwest Asia Minor, and lived in virginity.

She suffered persecution, torture and ultimately martyrdom during the reign of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, in the early fourth century. Her sacred relics are preserved at the Patriarchate in Constantinople.
