The Holy Feast of the Theophany in Acre
With ecclesiastical splendour and sacred dignity, the Holy Feast of the Theophany was celebrated in Acre of the Holy Metropolis of Ptolemais.
On Friday, 3rd/16th January 2026, in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint George of the city of Acre, the Great Hours of Theophany were read.
On Saturday, 4th/17th January 2026, the Eve of the Feast of Theophany was celebrated in the Holy Church of Saint George the Trophy-bearer of Acre. Following pastoral exhortations, the Service of Matins was celebrated, followed by an Episcopal Divine Liturgy, presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Makarios of Ptolemais, and concelebrated by Fr Elias Khoury, Fr Savvas Hatz, Fr Nektarios Farah, Fr Stephanos Nassar, and the Deacon Ioannis Avtsinikov, with the participation of many faithful Orthodox Christians.
After the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, a litany was held from the Holy Church to the seashore of the city, with the participation of the flock and the Orthodox Scouts of Acre. There, the Service of the Great Blessing of the Waters was celebrated, and the Precious Cross was cast into the sea.
Thereafter, a reception was offered in the reception hall, where refreshments and a meal were served at the Metropolitan’s Residence.
The hymns were chanted by the choir of Fr Nikolaos Moussa in Arabic and Greek, and by the choir of the Holy Church in Slavonic.
