The President of the Cretan Association of Sydney and New South Wales meets with Archbishop Makarios of Australia
On Tuesday, 23 June, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia warmly received at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese in Sydney, the President of the Cretan Association of Sydney and New South Wales, Mr Terry Saviolakis.
Mr Saviolakis sought and received the blessing of His Eminence, while also expressing his gratitude for the Archbishop’s steadfast support of the Cretan Association and of the commemorative events marking the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Crete. Furthermore, he presented the Archbishop with a commemorative coin dedicated to the historic battle of the spring of 1941, issued by the Royal Australian Mint.
For his part, His Eminence warmly thanked Mr Saviolakis for his visit and kind gesture, congratulated him on the work being carried out by the Cretan Association of Sydney and New South Wales, and finally expressed his prayerful wish that God may bless and strengthen him and his associates so that they may continue to work unimpeded for the preservation of historical memory, the Cretan tradition, and the identity of Hellenism in Australia.
