A New Pastoral Visit of the Metropolitan of Korea to Japan
On Sunday, June 21, 2026, Metropolitan Ambrose of Korea and Exarch of Japan celebrated the Divine Liturgy together with Deacon Christopher Jonker at the Anglican church of St. Alban’s in Tokyo, Japan.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated in Japanese, English, Ukrainian, Russian, and Greek, owing to the multinational composition of the faithful and catechumens in attendance.
In his homily, following the Gospel reading, Deacon Christopher expounded the passage: “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you” (Mt. 6:33), emphasizing Christ’s promise to us all of the attainment of both worlds, the spiritual and the material.
Following the Dismissal, the Metropolitan first conveyed to all the paternal wishes and blessings of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for a summer blessed by the Lord. He then expressed his gratitude to Father Paul Koroluk, on the occasion of his retirement, for his twenty years of service at the church, while at the same time encouraging the faithful both to attend church regularly and to inform anyone interested from among their acquaintances about the continuation of the worship gatherings.
Finally, he invited all who are able to participate in the weekly Wednesday Zoom meeting (8:00 p.m.), during which topics of the spiritual life are explored based on the teachings of St. Porphyrios of Kavsokalyva.
A small reception followed in the adjoining room, where those present had the opportunity to converse and become acquainted with one another.
