Annual Greek Independence Day parade in Manhattan on March 29

The annual Greek Independence Day parade will take place on March 29 this year through the streets of Manhattan.

According to reports, participation at the celebratory events will be greater than in previous years, in solidarity to residents of several eastern Aegean islands who continue to bear the brunt of a migrant/refugee crisis, as well as in the face of continued provocations by the Turkish state — especially the recent effort to allow, encourage and even force third country nationals to illegally enter Greek territory.
