Church today venerates Holy Apostles Bartholomew and Barnabas
The Church today venerates the memory of the Holy Apostles Bartholomew and Barnabas, as well as the Revelation of the Hymn Axion Estin, to a monk on Mt. Athos by the Archangel Gabriel. A feature is posted today on the pages of the Diakonima.gr site.
The day also marks the patronal feast day for the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, although celebrations this year will be reserved, due to precautions against the exposure to the coronavirus.
His All Holiness officiated at a Great Vespers service on Wednesday to commemorate the Holy Apostles Bartholomew and Barnabas. Afterwards, the Ecumenical Patriarch performed a triagion service in memory of the 19th century Teacher of the Nation, Bartholomew Koutloumousi-A-nos of Imbros, whose name he bears.
