Feast day of Sophia and her 3 daughters: Faith, Hope and Love
The Church today venerates the memory of Sophia and her three daughters: Faith, Hope and Love.
These saints hailed from Italy and contested for the Faith in approximately 126, during the reign of the Emperor Hadrian.
The name Sophia means “wisdom” in Greek; as for her daughters’ names, Faith, Hope, and Love – or Charity – in Greek they are known as Pistis, Elpis and Agape. Similarly, in Russian they are Vera, Nadezhda and Lyubov.
