The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross celebrated at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau
On Sunday, 27 September 2020, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.
The Cathedral Dean Archpriest Vadim Cheibas and the clergy of the holy shrine concelebrated to the first hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.
The liturgical responses were provided by the Cathedral’s choir directed by Angela Angheni.
The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross appeared in the 4th c A.D., after the Cross on which our Lord Jesus Christ had been crucified was discovered in Jerusalem. This spiritual event is always celebrated with fast, in the memory of the Passions on the Cross of our Saviour.
Apostle Paul says that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God (1 Cor., 1:18). Just like over two thousand years ago, bearing the cross is considered an act of foolishness, while Christianity continues to be the most persecuted faith in the world.
