Turkey now seeks rapprochement with Athens after months of belligerence, provocations
Exploratory talks between Greece and Turkey will resume this month after a nearly four-year hiatus, all in the wake of a year of heightened Turkish belligerence and provocations — from North Africa, the east Mediterranean, to the Mideast and the Caucasus.
According to reports, the Turkish side requested a resumption of the process and issued an invitation to Athens, which was accepted.
Erdogan-led Turkey has dramatically softened its rhetoric and provocations recently, after ducking what would have been biting EU sanctions late last year, and ahead of a new Biden administration in the United States to assume power in Washington this month.
