Holy and Sacred Synod of Ecumenical Patriarchate elects two new Metropolitans

The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople this week elected the Great Protosyncellus Andreas as the new Metropolitan of Saranda Eccelisies (Forty Churches) as well as electing the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s First Secretary, Joachim, as the new Metropolitan of Bursa.
Members of the Holy and Sacred Synod convened on Wednesday for a three-day series of sessions chaired by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I.

A day earlier, His All Holiness received the visiting Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, at the Fanar-district seat of the Patriarchate.

The Archbishop of America conveyed to the Ecumenical Patriarch the deepest respects and best wishes of His flock in the United States, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Bartholomew’s enthronement as the Ecumenical Patriarch.

The Archbishop of America also presented the Ecumenical Patriarch with a custom-made set of Hierarchal Engolpia.
