Optimism over the re-opening of the Theological School of Chalki
The Metropolitan of Bursa and the Exarch of Bithynia, His Eminence, Elpidophoros, this week expressed his optimism over the prospect of a re-opening of the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Theological School on the island of Chalki.
In statements carried by Greece’s national news agency, His Eminence referred to the significance of the seminary for the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the ethnic Greek community in the Patriarchate’s immediate parish, for all of Hellenism and, finally, for Greek-Turkish relations.
The Metropolitan also serves as the Abbot of the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegial Monastery of the Holy Trinity on the small Marmara Sea isle.
