Church today commemorates Removal of Holy Relics of St. John Chrysostom
The Church today commemorates the Removal of the Holy Relics of John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople.
On the occasion, a Divine Liturgy was held today at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George, at the Phanar-district Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, where the Holy Relics of St. John Chrysostom were conveyed for veneration by the faithful.
On Wednesday afternoon, a festal Vespers was celebrated at the cathedral by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All-Holiness Bartholomew I. As per centuries of Orthodox rite on this specific feast day, His All Holiness celebrated the service by standing by the side of the Patriarchal Throne, with the Holy Relics placed upon the throne.
