Patriarch of Moscow & All Russia Kirill’s sermon on Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee
The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, in his sermon to congregants assembled at the chapel of the St. Alexander Nevsky, on the occasion of the Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee, underlined that the lesson for the faithful is that none of the virtues associated with ecclesiastical life must be considered as inevitably leading to salvation.
His Holiness also expressed his sincerest aspiration that Sunday’s commencement of the Lenten Triodion – the Church’s liturgical book of propers for the period of fasting ahead of Holy Easter – prepare the faithful so they may experience the true meaning of Great Lent.
