Church of Crete’s Holy Eparchial Synod elects Bishop Prodromos as new Metropolitan of Rethymno & Avlopotamos

Members of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Church of Crete today elected the Bishop Prodromos of Knossos, the First Secretary of the Holy Eparchial Synod, as the new Metropolitan of Rethymno and Avlopotamos.

The session was the first since the election, by the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Sacred and Holy Synod, of new Archbishop of Crete, His Eminence Evgenios, who was enthroned earlier this month at the St. Minas Cathedral in the city of Irakleio.
