Greek consulate in Boston to again honor marathon winners this year
Greece’s consulate in Boston this month is again organizing an event to honor the winners of the Boston Marathon. The consulate has held such an event every year since 1984, in cooperation with the Alpha Omega organization.
It bestows gold-plated olive wreaths to the specific marathon’s winners. The olive branches come from the Marathon township, east of Athens proper, the eponymous site that is the inspiration for the modern Marathon. This year’s event will take place on April 11.
