Relic of the True Cross conveyed to Metropolis of Dimitriados (Volos)

A relic of the True and Holy Cross was received with reverence and extraordinary venerations on Friday at the St. Nicholas (Aghios Nikolaos) Metropolitan Cathedral in the central Greece city of Volos.

The relic, which is kept at the Monastery of St. Nikanor Zavordas, was conveyed to the Metropolis of Dimitriados and Almyros by the Elder Monk Paisios, and received by the Metropolitan of Dimitriados, His Eminence Ignatios.

A Divine Liturgy with the recital of the Akathis Hymn (Unseated Hymn) followed.

The 16th century Monastery of St. Nikanor Zavordas is located in the western Macedonia prefecture of Grevena.
