Patriarch of Serbia Porfirije in Montenegro over the weekend

The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, will travel to the coastal town Herceg Novi over the weekend in order to attend events marking the 640th anniversary of its establishment, and on the occasion of the translation of the Holy Relics St. Stephen, the first martyr of Christianity, as based on the Julian calendar.

The pastoral visit by the Serbian Patriarch comes a week after His Holiness and Montenegro Prime Minister Dritan Abazović signed a fundamental agreement between the Orthodox Church of Serbia and the Montenegro state in the Montenegro capital of Podgorica.

The signing of the fundamental agreement was attended by the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church of Serbia as well as the resident Metropolitan-Bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Eminence Joanikije.
