Procession of the sacred icon of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Jerusalem

The service of the procession of the sacred icon of the Dormition of the Theotokos was held before dawn on Thursday at the Patriarchate of Jerusalem in the Holy Land, following a Holy Vigil that was officiated by Archimandrite Bartholomew.

The icon is kept in the Metochion of Gethsemane.

The procession headed from the Metochion through Via Dolorosa and after a prayer stop at the Russian monastery of St. Alexander Nevsky, followed by the shrine of the Holy Ancestors of God, Joachim and of Anna, and of the Holy First Martyr Stephen.

Thousands of faithful and pilgrims followed the procession.
