Trisagion Memorial service at Ecumenical Patriarchate for reposed Metropolitan of Diokleia Kallistos

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, officiated at a Trisagion memorial service at the Patriarchal cathedral of St. George for the repose of the soul of Metropolitan of Diokleia Kallistos, following the Orthros service in the afternoon.

Metropolitan Kallistos Ware, a hierarch of the Ecumenical Throne, reposed in the Lord on Wednesday, the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain solemnly announced

A noted scholar, lecturer and author, as well as a devout and faithful clergyman, Kallistos was a beloved spiritual father.

Among many others, the Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Ecumenical Patriarch over the passing of Metropolitan Kallistos, whom he him called “…an old friend of our Church and a personal friend, a tireless supporter of the values of Orthodoxy in the West, who united theology with liturgical life and pastoral activity.”
