Litany at Holy Monastery of Chiliandari on Mt. Athos

A litany was held this week at the Holy Monastery of Chiliandari, on the semi-autonomous monastic community of Mt. Athos.

The monastery hosts the miraculous icon of the Panaghia Tricherousa, to which iconoclast St. John Damascene prayed, while holding his severed hand. His hand was miraculously reattached after he had fallen asleep before the icon.

The Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, Elder Archimandrite Efraim, presided over the litany, at Chiliandari, given the brotherly bonds connecting the two venerable Athonite monasteries, via the founders of the latter, the Serbian monks Symeon and Sava.
