Prayer service in Serbia for protection of the family, sanctity of marriage

The Serbian Orthodox Church today will hold a prayer service for the protection of the family and the sanctity of marriage, while the Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, has already issued a message for the eradication of violence against women.

His Holiness said women, mothers and sisters are “sacred”, underlining that he will personally contribute towards making households safer. Patriarch Porfirije also called on clerics of the Church to detect instances of family violence and to cooperate with social workers to combat this phenomenon.
