Members of the Archdiocese of America’s Holy Eparchial Synod convenes on Thur.

Member hierarchs of the Archdiocese of America’s Holy Eparchial Synod, chaired by the Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, on Thursday convened a special session via videoconference.
Archbishop Elpidophoros first briefed members of the Holy Eparchial Synod over a decision of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to establish a joint commission for the new charter of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and to appoint members on behalf of the Mother Church.

Additionally, members of the Holy Eparchial Synod decided to discontinue specific supplications chanted during the Divine Liturgy and the other ecclesiastical services, which had been exceptionally added in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hierarchs noted that the extraordinary danger posed by the Covid-19 pandemic has largely passed, with the Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ Who Is Physician of both Souls and Bodies.
