156th Anniversary of Arkadi Sacrifice of 1866 was commemorated in Sydney

The 156th Anniversary of the Arkadi Sacrifice of 1866 was commemorated in Sydney on Sunday, with a tribute paid to the heroes who fought and sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Crete.
The annual event was organized by the Cretan Brotherhood of Sydney and New South Wales, and took place at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, in Redfern.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a memorial service was held for the repose of the souls of those who fell at the Holy Monastery of Arkadi, officiated by the Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne, Fr Christophoros Krikelis.

Father Christophoros conveyed to all those present the best wishes and blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
