Federation of Greek Seniors of Melbourne and Victoria hold annual Christmas function
On Sunday, 27 November 2022, A Christmas function for the Federation of Greek Seniors of Melbourne and Victoria took place at the Star Reception in Melbourne.
At the event, representing His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, was His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Northcote.
Also present, apart from the President Mr. Ioannis Kostoulias and the members of the Federation’s board of directors, were many representatives of the federal and state governments, as well as representatives of many senior citizens’ associations.
His Grace Bishop Evmenios, in his brief greeting, thanked the President and the board of directors for the invitation and conveyed the wishes of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, to all present.
Also, His Grace Bishop Evmenios thanked all the seniors for their contribution to the Greek Orthodox Community and Australian society more broadly.
His Grace especially thanked the Senior Citizens for their struggle to ensure the bonds of their families, which is a very important element for the future and progress of the Greek diaspora. “I didn’t like the term elderly. For us Australian-born, you are wise and special, and we thank you”, His Grace said in closing.
