Vote for new Archbishop of Cyprus on Christmas Eve

The election will take place after Saturday’s Divine Liturgy.

The trio of hierarchs up for election as the new Primate of the Church of Church, succeeding reposed in the Lord Archbishop Chrysostomos II, are the Metropolitans of Limassol, Paphos and Tamassos.

Members of the Holy Synod will select the new Archbishop from the trio that emerged from a first-round election process earlier this month, whereby citizens of the Republic of Cyprus who are registered faithful of the specific Church voted for one of six candidate-hierarchs.

In case one of the three current candidates does not receive a majority of votes by Holy Synod members in the first round, then the first and second vote-getter will stand in a second round. In case of a tie, a drawing will be held.
