The Patronal Feast Day of Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa
On 17 February, the day in which the Holy Church celebrates the memory of The Great Martyr Saint Theodore the Tyron, His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, celebrates his patronal feast day, who from the first year of his ascension to the blessed, famous and historic Throne of the martyred Church of Saint Mark the Apostle and Evangelist until today, celebrates his name day always along side his spiritual children, the Orthodox Africans.
So this year too, His Beatitude Patriarch Theodoros II, being in Kenya, arrived at the Holy Church of Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene, Thogoto District, Kikuyu Province, Kenya.
His Beatitude was welcomed by the holy clergy of the Metropolis of Nairobi and the local people with shouts of joy and expressions of love for their spiritual father. Then, in an atmosphere of devotion and reverence, His Beatitude along side the concelebrating Hierarchs, Metropolitan Ieronymos of Kampala, Metropolitan Innocentios of Burundi and Rwanda, Metropolitan Daniel of Axomi, Metropolitan Neophytos of Eldoret, Bishop Silvestro of Jinja, Bishop Nektarios of Gulu, and Bishop Panaretos of Nyeri, celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the patronal Feast Day.
Before the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Kampala on behalf of the Holy Synod, conveying wishes to His Beatitude, and on behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Nairobi and the Holy Clergy of the Holy Metropolis, the Hierarchical Vicar General Fr. John Karanja.
