Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew receives newly enthroned Archbishop of Cyprus Georgios

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All-Holiness Bartholomew I, on Thursday received the newly enthroned Archbishop of Cyprus, His Beatitude Georgios, at the Throne Room of the Patriarchal Seat.
On Saturday, the eve of the great feast day of the Sunday of Orthodoxy, Archbishop Georgios will officiate at the Great Vespers at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George.

The Primate of the Mother Church and the Primate of the Archdiocese of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus discussed issues affecting humanity, especially in the wider region, such as the devastating earthquakes in southeast Turkey, the war in Ukraine and the most recent train disaster in Greece.

Two Cypriot nationals, college students, are among the victims of the deadly collision, a dour development that dampened the joy of the Archbishop’s visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s See.
