Forefeast of the Annunciation of the All-Holy Theotokos

Today marks the Forefeast of the Annunciation of the All-Holy Theotokos, a prelude of universal joy. Today is also the feast day of Righteous Artemon, Bishop of Seleucia.

On the occasion, a segment showing services for the Forefeast of the Annunciation at the Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi, back in 2021, have been posted today on the Pemptousia platform.

The Great Despotic and Matronal feast day is solemnly and reverently celebrated at the venerable Mount Athos monastery, as the Catholicon, or main cathedral, is dedicated to the Theotokos, the All-Holy Virgin Mary.

Greek Independence Day 

The annual March 25th Feast of the Annunciation also coincides with the celebration of the beginning of the Greek War of Independence in 1821.

An annual parade of pupils was held in central Athens on Friday morning, with the focal point being the country’s Parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. A military parade will take place on Saturday, while celebratory events, commemorations and parades will take place throughout the east Mediterranean country and ethnic Greek communities around the world.
