15th anniversary of election to Ieronymos to Throne of Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the election of then Metropolitan of Thebes Ieronymos to the Throne of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece.
Ieronymos was elected as the 20th Primate of the Church of Greece by member hierarchs of the standing Holy Synod, following the repose in the Lord of beloved Archbishop Christodoulos.

Through the years, Archbishop Ieronymos has guided the Church of Greece, and coordinated Metropolises around the country in offering relief to people affected by the consecutive economic downturns since 2010, a migration crisis that erupted in 2015, the Covid-19 pandemic and, of late, repercussions from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Archbishop Ieronymos holds degrees in philosophy, Byzantine history and theology from the University of Athens, with post-graduate studies in Germany and Austria.
