The annual Greek-Serbian Orthodox and Cultural Friendship Day was celebrated last Sunday in Rooty Hill, Sydney, bringing together Serbian, Greek and other Orthodox faithful.

On the initiative of the Serbian Orthodox Church of St Stefan, the event has been taking place every September since 1994, with the local expatriate Serbian community expressing its appreciation for the assistance of the Greek people during the Yugoslav wars and the NATO-led bombings of the sovereign country. Many families in Greece during the 1990s hosted Serbian children from warzones.

The day started with the Holy Liturgy in the St Stefan Serbian Orthodox Church.
