Today’s Apodosis of Pascha, Holy and Great Easter, was commemorated by the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece on Tuesday evening through the first hour of Wednesday in order to celebrate the Holy Easter Saturday Resurrection service with worshipers.

Last month’s reverent Resurrection service was celebrated without worshipers, as they were barred from Church-going – even during Easter week – due to strict restrictions in place to prevent exposure to the coronavirus.

Orthodox faithful around the country attended the extraordinary Resurrection service, more than a month after Holy Saturday, which fell on April 18 this year, based on the Orthodox calendar.

The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, officiated at the vigil of the Apodosis of Pascha at the Athens Metropolitan Cathedral, where the holy services and the con-celebratory Divine Liturgy was also celebrated.

The Greek government was represented by Education and Religious Affairs Minister Niki Kerameos.

Afterwards, the minister thanked the Church of Greece for the good cooperation between the ministry and the Church over the past few months.
