Archbishop Evgenios of Crete before the Holy Icon of Panagia of Chandaka, in Vienna
His Eminence Archbishop Evgenios of Crete, paid an official visit to Vienna, Austria, from February 13th to 18th, 2023.
The Archbishop of Crete met with His Eminence Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria, a fellow Cretan, with whom they visited the Catholic Church of the Archangel Michael (Michaelerkirche) in Vienna, where the Holy Icon of the so-called “Maria di Candia”, the “Virgin of Chandaka”, is kept, which in Venetian-occupied Crete was kept in the Holy Church of Saint Nikolaos ton Tsangaron (shoemakers) until the Cretan War.
In front of the Icon, the Archbishop of Crete, conducted a Holy Supplication Service to the Mother of God, hence the related photographs:
