The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, on Friday received board members of the national union of theologians.
The meeting comes in the wake of a circular, issued by the education ministry, stipulating that the curriculum for the religious studies classes in Greece’s public schools for the 2019-2020 academic year will remain the same.

In a brief statement afterwards, the Archbishop noted that “… we agreed to meet again after a month to review the new situation, and whatever issues arise in terms of public schools, the justice system and relations with the state… “

In a related development, Ieronymos later received the visiting Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain, His Eminence Nikitas.

The latter invited the Primate of the Church of Greece to visit the United Kingdom, while on his part, Ieronymos wished him God’s speed in assuming the very productive ministry, one he said is attracting an increasing number of Greeks.

Finally, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece on Friday received 42 pupils that studied at the Archdiocese of Athens’ tutorial school over the past academic year.

Of the 42 high school graduates that were instructed at the free-of-charge tutorial school, 41 were admitted to universities and polytechnics in the country after nationwide college entry exams, with the majority achieving admission to greater Athens area tertiary schools, thereby avoiding monthly living and transportation expenses for their families.
