Archbishop of Albania Anastasios receives visiting President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier

The Archbishop of Durres, Tirana and All Albania, His Beatitude Anastasios, this week received the visiting President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in the courtyard of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, the Archdiocese Cathedral.
His Beatitude later guided the German head of state on a tour of the magnificent Metropolitan Cathedral, one of the most prominent architectural landmarks in the Albanian capital.

Steinmeier was briefed by the shepherd of the Orthodox faithful in Albania over the Church’s ecclesiastical work, as well as its initiatives and work for the improvement of society as a whole. Special mention was made of the Orthodox Church of Albania’s significant contribution to peaceful co-existence and religious tolerance in the Adriatic country and in the wider southern Balkans.
