Archbishop of America Elpidophoros visits St. Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Monastery in Arizona
During his visit last week to the St. Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Monastery in Florence, Arizona, Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, first spoke with the monastery’s Elders about his love for monasticism, while expressing his support to their spiritual works and promising to remain by their side.
His Eminence also spent time with the Elder Ephraim in his cell.
Ephraim, a disciple of Elder Joseph the Hesychast, was instrumental in efforts to restore and repopulate four Mt. Athos monasteries and to establish several monastic communities throughout Greece and North America, before he relocated to the Sonora Desert in south Arizona to start a new monastery, along with six other Athonite monks.
