Archbishop of Athens receives visiting Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa
The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, on Tuesday received the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II.
The Primate of the Alexandria Patriarchate is currently visiting Athens.
A day earlier, Theodoros was received by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion government house.
The meeting between the Primate of the Church of Greece and Patriarch Theodoros comes in the wake of the Alexandria Patriarchate’s decision to assign the name of the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, His Beatitude Epiphanius, in the Church’s diptychs and to commemorate his name during liturgies – in essence recognizing the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
His Most Divine Beatitude thanked Ieronymos for the Church of Greece’s support.
