Archbishop of Australia Makarios calls on Russian Patriarch Kirill to intervene for war’s end

The Holy Archdiocese of Australia reiterated its support for the suffering Ukrainian people, while announcing 30 scholarships to children of Ukrainian immigrants to study in the Archdiocese’s schools.

This decision was taken during the first day of the 13th Synaxis of the Bishops of the Holy Archdiocese, which took place under the chairmanship of the Archbishop of Australia, His Eminence Makarios.

In a statement, the Archbishop appealed those in power to “…to assume their responsibilities before God and history”, while beseeching the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, to intervene so that the war between Orthodox peoples is immediately ended.
