Archbishop of Australia Makarios in Perth

Scores of Orthodox faithful, including dozens of children, greeted new Archbishop of Australia, His Eminence Makarios, on Thursday, upon his arrival at the Perth airport, in western Australia.
Members of the Byzantine music choir St. John the Damascene, from Adelaide, who travelled along with the new Archbishop, also greeted him with ecclesiastical chants.

The first pastoral visit by Makarios to western Australia comes from Archbishop’s stated volition to preside at the Divine Liturgy on Friday at the newly consecrated Cathedral of St. Paisios of Mt. Athos, on the Feast Day of the saint.
