Banat Metropolis sends Greek-speaking priest to support victims of Timiș road crash
The Metropolis of Banat announced that it will provide spiritual and material support to the victims of the road accident that occurred on Tuesday in Timiș County, with a Greek-speaking priest set to offer spiritual assistance to those hospitalised.
Metropolitan Ioan of Banat expressed his profound sorrow over the tragic road accident that took place in the commune of Găvojdia, Timiș County, which resulted in the loss of seven lives and left three other people injured. The wounded are currently receiving medical care at the Timișoara County Emergency Hospital.
Metropolitan Ioan said that the entire diocesan community is praying for the repose of the souls of those who have passed away and for the swift recovery of the injured.
A message of compassion was also conveyed by Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church, who expressed sympathy for the victims of the tragic accident and offered prayers for the bereaved families and for the healing of the survivors.
“With hope in the help and mercy of God, we pray that our Saviour Jesus Christ may grant rest among the righteous to the souls of the departed, and bestow spiritual and bodily healing upon the injured,” the Patriarch said.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, when a minibus carrying Greek citizens crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a truck, according to Agerpres.
