On Thursday, November 28, 2019, Thanksgiving Day in America, His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Deputy Secretary of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, brought the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God “of the Sign” to St John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC. There he performed a moleben and akathist before the ancient holy image.
