Roughly 20,000 Australian dollars were collected during a charity event at the St. Nektarios Orthodox Monastery in Adelaide, held for orphans in Madagascar.
In a recent tour of an orphanage on the Indian Ocean island nation, the Alexandria Patriarchate’s Metropolitan of Madagascar, His Eminence Ignatios, was greeted by children singing the “Ti Ypermacho” masterpiece of Byzantine hymnology, and the Greek national anthem.
