Church of Cyprus clerics call for reopening of places of worship under strict conditions

Several Church of Cyprus clerics of the Metropolises of Limassol and Paphos have addressed a letter to the island republic’s president, Nicos Anastasiades, and to the relevant health minister, calling of a lifting of a total ban on the presence of worshippers during Church services.

Clerics reiterated that they agree with the imposition of public health and distancing measures, but that the faithful also have spiritual needs which are fulfilled by Church-going, and therefore, should have access to places of worship with precautions in place.
