Church of Cyprus Holy Synod to convene on Sat. for election of new Archbishop

Members of the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Church of Cyprus will convene on Saturday, on the eve of the great feast day of Christmas, to elect a new Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus. Members of the Holy Synod will select a new Archbishop from among a trio of hierarchs that emerged from a first-round election process earlier this month, whereby citizens of the Republic of Cyprus who are registered faithful of the specific Church voted for one of six candidate-hierarchs.
