Congo: Laying of the Foundation Stone of the church of the Virgin Mary “Axion Esti”
On the Monday of the Holy Spirit, June 13, Metropolitan Theodosios of Kinshasa presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Archangels of Kinshasa. After the completion of the Divine Liturgy, the laying of the foundation stone of the new Church of the Virgin Mary “Axion Esti” was held in the area of Kigasani.
The ceremony was presided over by Metropolitan Theodosios, along with the Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis of Kinshasa, Archim. Gerasimos Belesis, Archim. Andreas Nsaka, Presbyters Cyril and Theodore, as well as deacons Paisios and Ephraim.
The Metropolitan performed the sanctification service and laid the foundation stone, while on this occasion he expressed his joy for the construction of the new church.
Then, the Metropolitan stressed that the Virgin Mary will protect the entire place where the foundation stone was laid, as a sanctuary.
The faithful, with songs and applause and with deep emotion, expressed their gratitude to the Lord.
