Discussion over looming resumption of Church-state dialogue continues

A looming resumption in a dialogue regarding Church-state relations, held by members of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece’s Holy Synod with the new leadership of the education and religious affairs ministry continues to attract attention by Church hierarchs, with the Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Aghios Vlasios, His Eminence Ierotheos, this week publishing an article in an Athens media outlet.

“The new government must make its goals clear, which were pre-election pledges (by the New Democracy party), and now it is the Church’s turn to do the same, in other words, to clear the air for the dialogue, based on the unanimous decisions by the Holy Synod in March 2016 and March 2019,” he wrote, in an op-ed piece posted on the ethnos.gr. site.
