Doxology service in Moscow for fallen of Greek liberation struggle

A solemn Doxology service was held on Thursday, March 25, at the Donskoy Stauropegial Monastery in Moscow and memorial prayers were said for the fallen of Greek liberation struggle.

With the blessing of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the service was officiated by the head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, and co-officiated by Archbishop Feognost of Kashira, the head of the synodal department for monastery and monastics, as well as several other Archpriests of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Present at the service to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek War of Independence were the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, Ekaterini Nassika, Greek diplomats, representatives of the Moscow Greek Society, the AGAPI association of Greek women and other Greek pubic organizations and numerous philhellenes, as well chairman of the State Duma committee for public associations and religious organizations and the president of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy S. A. Gavrilov.
